Polemarch’s Message

On behalf of the Southaven (MS) Alumni Chapter (SAC), the Top Shelf Nupes, welcome to our website.

On June 29, 2013, 32 brothers, led by Dr. Torrence A. McKnight, Sr., Immediate Past Polemarch and Keeper of Exchequer, became charter members of the Southaven (MS) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., which serves DeSoto and Tunica Counties and is a Southaven Chamber of Commerce and Tunica County Chamber of Commerce member. In addition to national fraternity initiatives (i.e. Kappa Foundation, Guide Right, Kappa Camp, Piney Woods School, Senior Kappas, Safe Sleep Fatherhood Outreach Initiative, St. Jude Sunday of Hope), we are proud HeartLand Hands Food Pantry, Adopt-A- Highway supporters and recently adopted Olive Branch High School.

As a founding member of NPHC of Desoto County, MS, we have led the charge in fostering strong relationships with fellow Greeks based our continued willingness to honor their chapter sponsorship requests, as well as our annual “Divas and Diamonds Holiday Soiree” partnership with the DeSoto County (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Our 501(c)(3), Southaven Leadership Foundation (SLF), operates exclusively for educational and charitable purposes, and oversees our thriving Guide Right Program, anchored by our Kappa Leadership League. Additionally, SLF receives a portion of each brother’s annual dues, as well as chapter life membership program contributions. SLF will play a key role in expanding our reach and cultivating community and corporate partner relationships and can be reached at southavenleadershipfoundation@southavenalumni.org.

We invite inactive brothers to “Come Home to Kappa” and usually meet the second Friday of each month at M.R. Davis Public Library.  You can also join our Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/southavenmsalumninupes/. For membership inquiries and general chapter information, please email Brother Durell Peterson, Keeper of Records, at keeperofrecords@southavenalumni.org, and Dr. Torrence A. McKnight, Sr., Keeper of Exchequer and Reclamation Chair, at keeperofexchequer@southavenalumni.org for dues related matters.  One Kappa!

Sincerely yours,
